Let’s start this off with a great old man Disclaimer: We are not game developers. We are not good at programming. we really don’t know why Pokémon Scarlet and Violet were broken and buggy at launch. And also, we definitely don’t just want to join the bunch of hate directed at Game Freak right now, even though they’re probably doing just fine with a record 10 million copies sold of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet in one matter. of days.
But even though we can’t provide specific reasons why the game isn’t working or solutions to the problems, we do have some ideas and hopes for the future of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, so we’ve made a list of 30 changes. fixes and additions we’d love to see in an update.
Here we go…
Changes we’d like to see in the next Pokémon update
Software fixes
General stability improvements
If there’s one thing we’d like Game Freak to address first, it’s game stability. Currently, it’s a bit tricky to figure out if the game will crash or not, and that’s not ideal! People need to know that their game isn’t going to fall out from under them more than anything else.
better textures
With stability fixes the game would be playable, but still not pretty in many places. The main glaring problem with the open world of Scarlet and Violet is the textures, which are either boring as hell (looking at you, sandy areas) or very obviously repeating themselves, as with the cliffs and mountains of Paldea.
A bit of variety and contrast in these areas wouldn’t go amiss, and would make the world look so much nicer, rather than the gigantic featureless brown walls littering the place currently.
UI consistency
We’re having a nightmare learning which buttons do what in this game, because it’s pretty inconsistent. Sometimes Y is back, sometimes it’s B. Sometimes it’s both. It looks like the + button should open the menu, but instead, it’s X to open the menu and + invokes your ride. The Pokédex is assigned to both the minus button Y the X button inside the Y menu, and it looks like it should be in the X menu anyway. It just feels messy and chaotic.
Faster loading times
This mainly affects stores and Boxes. It takes an age to load all the hats and gloves and Pokémon every time! Surely there is a solution for this? It’s never been a problem in Pokemon games before.
multiplayer fixes
A large part of the bugs that people are encountering have to do with multiplayer. That’s probably to be expected – it’s a huge feature with a lot of edge cases that are hard to plan for, especially in the tight time frame Pokemon games have these days. But, well, the multiplayer feels very… unrefined at best, and unfinished at worst.
Don’t get us wrong: it’s a lot of fun, and being able to complete story missions with friends around is awesome, plus seeing pop-up notifications that let you know what they’re up to in the world. Also, the collaborative sandwiches are the most fun we’ve had in a long time. But connection problems, animation errors, and the fact that your friends can’t aid you with story missions makes it a bit disappointing.
character customization
more skin tones
Pokémon ScarVi currently offers… four skin tones. Two are very light (and almost indistinguishable), one is olive green and the other is darker, but that really isn’t much in the way of options for a large part of the population. Surely skin tones are one of the easiest character customization options to add? Especially considering the sheer number of tab types out there. Who really knows their lash type?
More genderless options
It’s 2022, and the gender-agnostic future Game Freak dreams of is… no one can wear a skirt. Really? Why? Give us back our skirts, and everyone wear them. Forcing everyone to wear pants and shorts is not progress!
Red hair
We understand that natural red hair probably isn’t that common in Game Freak’s home country of Japan, but if ten million people bought Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, statistically, 100,000 of those players have natural red hair. Not red like ketchup, but red like, you know, ginger hair. It would be nice to have a hair option for them!
no more uniform
We feel very Pink Floyd Another brick in the wall about Scarlet and Violet’s choice to force us to wear uniforms 24/7. It invalidates many of the other fashion choices – what’s the point of wearing blue if it clashes horribly with orange?
At least give us a chance to have what our schools call a “own clothes day” where you can wear whatever you want, because after all, most of the Pokémon ScarVi story isn’t even establish at school!
motorcycle accessories
We love Koraidon and Miraidon as the vehicle of choice for our Pokémon trainer from Paldean, so why not let us dress them up a bit? Bicycle horns! saddles! Little hats! It would help us set ourselves apart from other trainers while in co-op since most of us race bikes all the time anyway.
More options
skip battle animations
Being able to go into settings and turn on the “skip battle animations” option is an absolute must for a game that’s all about long, drawn-out battles, and battles that you want to get over as soon as possible. He’s been in the series for a long time, which only makes his absence on PSV all the more conspicuous!
camera sensitivity
This is a pretty basic request, and most games these days include this even in a sparse menu of options, but can we alter the camera’s sensitivity? is currently road too slow, and Arceus knows that the game has enough problems with slowness already.
Disable EXP sharing
Some of us like being able to split experience six ways, but others, the ones who are really good at the competitive side of Pokémon, want more control over how they level up their mons. Not giving us the option seems like an odd choice on Game Freak’s part, but we can see this feature finally returning in a future update, especially since it’s just a relatively simple change.
More selfie poses
We love the selfie poses we have so far, but we wouldn’t say no to a few more. Consider what people take selfies for, mainly to show things off or express a reaction to something in the game, and add more poses based on that. Here are some suggestions: 😅😛😒😔🙄😙😲😤
pokemon selfies
We also want to take pictures with our Pokémon! Maybe grab a leaf from the Disney Dreamlight Valley book, here: DDV will make nearby characters zoom in and pose if they see you’re taking a selfie. In Pokémon ScarVi, our Pokémon often run around us in circles like little kids on a sugar rush. Some of them will even move out of the way on purpose when we try to photograph them, like a grumpy cat. Can’t we bribe them with Pokétreats or something?
We’re only halfway through our list, so continue to page two for more things we’d like to see added to the game…
