A motion passed in the House of Commons urges the City of Ottawa to rename part of Charlotte Street housing the Russian Embassy in the name of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The motion was introduced by NDP MP Charlie Angus and passed unanimously, The Post Millennial reported Thursday.
“Parliament unanimously approved my call to ask the nation’s capital to consider renaming the street [Charlotte] in front of the Russian embassy on boulevard Zelensky,” welcomed the Ontario MP on Twitter.
Ottawa Mayor Jim Watson has not yet reacted to the initiative of the deputies which adds to the actions of support for the Ukrainian people.
“Free Ukraine” signs were displayed in the federal capital, while administrative buildings were painted blue and yellow in support of Ukraine.
