Game News A Plague Tale Requiem: how many hours will Amicia and Hugo’s adventure last?
A Plague Tale Requiem is undoubtedly one of the most anticipated games of this end of the year and, little by little, Asobo is starting to reveal more and more of them. So if you were planning on getting the game, here’s how long it should keep you busy.
A Bb-stutterer tale
A few years ago, Asobo created a surprise with A Plague Tale Innocence, an AA infiltration and adventure game that took place in a particular context: the Hundred Years War in France, then ravaged by the Black Death. We followed the misadventures of Amicia, having to treat her little brother Hugo, plagued by a strange disease. The journey was not easy since we then had to repel both the rats and the Inquisition in dark and unforgiving medieval settings.
Well aware of the media, critical and commercial success, the Bordeaux-based studio has therefore decided to repeat the experience with a sequel, subtitled Requiem. Our two heroes have aged a bit and must continue their journey, which is definitely strewn with pitfalls. And precisely, this road, what does it give?
No filling, only concrete
In the latest issue of PLAY Magazine, lead level design Kevin Pinson revealed some interesting details on the lifespan, between 3 and 6 p.m., and the very nature of the content. A rather promising speech:
It’s about rhythm, there’s no filler, there’s no trying to make it longer because we needed to. Our publisher Focus Interactive encouraged us to make the lifespan we wanted for the game and for the story we wanted to tell.
So we weren’t aiming for a specific number of hours. It’s not something we consider when we first design the title. We are a small team of 70 people, so we have to be really drastic in our choices.
A priori therefore, this good fifteen hours should be well filled and above all, intelligently and as the developers really wanted. And that is clearly a good thing.
A Plaque Tale Requiem will be released on October 18, 2022 on PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch (via the cloud).
