It doesn’t change much from the previous games in the series, but it does have a lot of little additions and tweaks to the game, in an effort to help balance out the multiplayer experience. A big part of this includes a host of new special weapons, from a stall that lets your party grab stat-boosting refreshments to an explosive inflatable dolphin. There are currently sixteen different special weapons, and while you’ll also want to consider the main weapon in each loadout, the special weapon could also be a deciding factor. With that in mind, we have classified each special weapon into Splatoon 3 May Splatoon 3.
Splashdown is the most limited of all the specials. Nintendo
Splashdown can be potentially useful in ganks, but the big problem with this special is that it’s too easy to avoid. The roughly five second countdown before impact gives any opponent a fair chance to dodge it, meaning Splashdown is generally not very effective.
Inkjet is not as useful as in splatoon 2. Nintendo
The Inkjet isn’t as useful as it was in Splatoon 2, as its ink gun has a severely limited range that makes it hard to hit enemies. Ultimately, it’s not very good at inking grass to eliminate enemies.
ink vacuum cleaner
Ink Vac is the weakest of the new specials. Nintendo
Much like Splashdown, Ink Vac can be useful in the right hands, but it’s also extremely easy for the enemy team to avoid. This new special soaks up any ink shot at it, so if the enemy team is on top of things, they can just make sure not to shoot, making the weapon not as effective.
The Trizooka is deadly but difficult to use. Nintendo
The Trizooka can be an instant kill if it hits an enemy head-on, but it can also be incredibly difficult to master. This special has a very specific trajectory, so you’ll need to practice a bit before it’s really effective.
Tenta Missiles feels unchanged from previous games. Nintendo
Tenta Missiles is one of the returning specials, and just like before, it’s a good intermediate ability. The multiple missiles he fires are great for inking grass, especially if the enemy is close to his spawn point, but it’s easy enough for opponents to avoid the missiles.
Ink Storm is a solid option for support-focused players. Nintendo
Ink Storm can be a fantastic support ability, but you probably won’t get eliminations with it. However, if you are totally focused on tinting the lawn, this is a great option as the cloud has good ground cover.
Reefslider is at least fun to use. Nintendo
The Reefslider is easily one of the most fun specials to use, letting you fly forward on an inflatable dolphin that explodes in a cloud of ink. It will take some practice, but the long range of this move can be an easy way to take out multiple enemies at once.
The Crab Tank is deadly, but it has a vital weakness. Nintendo
The Crab Tank is an incredibly powerful special, but it also has a huge weakness that makes you totally vulnerable from behind. However, as long as you get into the right position, you can cover a ton of grass and take out at least a couple of opponents.
Booyah Bomb is essentially a better version of Splashdown. Nintendo
Booyah Bomb is like a Splashdown that you can cast, which means it’s incredibly useful. Being able to charge up the attack and launch it at any time gives it this special unpredictability that can be hard for opponents to read.
The Tacticooler is great, but only if your team uses it. Nintendo
The usefulness of the Tacticooler is entirely dependent on your entire team using it, so you’ll want to make sure your team is coordinated. Having one of these drinks allows you to move faster and respawn faster, which can easily give a good team an advantage.
Zipcaster is the most unique special in Splatoon 3. Nintendo
The Zipcaster is one of the more interesting new specials, essentially an explosive grappling hook. This special allows you to slide and stick to walls, but the real bonus is that you can still use your normal weapon while it’s active. When used correctly, Zipcaster can really allow you to ambush the enemy team.
Ultra Stamp can be good whether you’re focusing on getting kills or inking grass. Nintendo
The Ultra Stamp can be absolutely devastating if used correctly, inking tons of grass and taking out the enemy team in one hit. This special is best used in tight hallways or corners where enemies will not be able to move or dodge.
Killer Lament 5.1
Killer Wail is perfect for players focused on killing. Nintendo
The new Killer Wail is one of the best options for players who like to focus on taking out the other team. This special has six homing lasers that fire at enemies, and you can continue to fire your own weapon while it’s active. It is a great choice for more offensive players.
Triple Inkstrike is the best ranged special ever Splatoon 3. Nintendo
The Triple Instrike is a deadly special that lets you launch three object balls that spawn deadly tornadoes almost instantly. The sheer versatility of this special is really what sets it apart, as it can not only kill, but can also be used to herd and split enemies into chokepoints.
The Wave Breaker is great for disrupting the enemy team. Nintendo
Wave Breaker is an incredibly powerful special that shoots out damaging waves, and the only way to avoid them is by jumping. In a frantic battle, this special can be devastating, as it’s hard to focus on fighting opponents and avoiding waves. As if that wasn’t enough, Wave Breaker also marks nearby enemies, making it impossible for them to hide in the ink.
The Big Bubbler can easily turn the tide of battle. Nintendo
Bib Bubbler is an essential special that can completely turn the tide of battle for a well-coordinated team. The bubble blocks all enemy attacks but allows you to shoot outside of it. This means that the enemies will have to enter the bubble themselves to eliminate you. A team with medium or long range weapons can make this special especially deadly.
Splatoon 3 is currently available on Nintendo Switch.
