AMD Zen 4 may be set to steal the best gaming CPU crown, as new claims suggest the next-gen chips will outperform the Ryzen 7 5800X by as much as 24%. Rumors of the performance boost follow Raphael gaming PC processor leaks indicating a 10% boost over the current-gen chip.
Sources close to Moore’s Law is Dead say that AMD Zen 4 CPUs boast a 15-24% IPC (instructions per cycle) increase over Zen 3. Additionally, the chips will reportedly arrive with an increased clock speed. 14%, while single thread capabilities could improve by as much as 37%. The new specs are accompanied by “massive” I/O upgrades over Zen 3, including support for DDR5 RAM and PCIe 5.0 support.
