Despite the minimal size of Among Us, players digging into the game may occasionally encounter bugs or glitches. A more recurring error is when you can’t create/find a game and get the message “Among Us servers couldn’t authenticate you”. If you are one of the few unlucky players to get this message, try the solutions below to resolve the issue.
Make sure you’re logged in
Once you open Among Us, you will be prompted to “Sign In”, “Continue as Guest”, or “Play Offline”. Although you can select the last two options, it is recommended to log in to play. There have been cases where players logging in as guests have authentication issues, so it’s best to log in and if you don’t have an account, it will only take a few minutes to create one.
change the server
One of the main reasons why the authentication error appears is that the wrong server has been selected. To check if you have selected the correct server, click on the globe icon at the bottom right of the screen. Make sure you have selected the correct server or change it anyway to see if that resolves the issue.
If the problem persists, try using a VPN. There are several decent VPNs available online, ranging from free to paid. However, make sure you are using a reliable VPN if you decide to go this route, as unreliable VPNs can infect your system with malware.
Since the size of the game is incredibly small, you can delete it and then reinstall it. Also, keep a tab on the official Among Us Twitter account to see if scheduled maintenance is underway or if many players are facing the same issue globally.
