Game news Assassin’s Creed Mirage: Arab mythology on the program, first information
Since its inception, the Assassin’s Creed franchise has enjoyed incorporating elements of science fiction and the supernatural into its stories: we can even say that this is the charm of the saga. The Mirage episode should be no exception to the rule and besides, we have the first concrete details.
Back to the Legend
One of the strengths of Assassin’s Creed is undoubtedly to mix genres to establish its universe: there is pure and hard history of course, but also science fiction since the very principle of the Animus is frankly futuristic (which is also felt in the game’s interface). Then, there are many deities and mystical creaturesfirst from biblical culture and then from different mythologies, such as Greek, Egyptian or Nordic.
With Assassin’s Creed Mirage which will return to the Middle East, and more precisely to Badgad in the 9th century, we could then ask ourselves the question whether, yes or no, we were going to find similar legends borrowed from Arab culture. The answer is officially yes and precisely, Ubisoft has just revealed to us a first entity… not very recommendable.
Today’s comments come from Sarah Beaulieu, the narrative director of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, which confirmed that Arab and Muslim mythology will be well integrated into the story.
The creature that Basim sees in the Assassin’s Creed Mirage trailer is indeed a djinn. We call it “jinn”, we use the Arabic word. I’ve seen your theories about him. Tons of great ideas, but none of them are close to the truth. Don’t worry, you will meet our jinn very soon.
The jinn will therefore be on the program and it’s a safe bet that there will be other mystical elements planned: it remains to be seen how they will be integrated and what place they will take within the story. Besides, we recall that the extension which had leaked before the reveal of the game was based on the counter of Ali Baba and the 40 Thieves, with precisely a visual allowing a glimpse of a funny silhouette.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will land on PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series and Xbox One in 2023. We don’t have a specific release date, although the collector’s version of the game may have leaked something interesting…
