The new movie from Mud director Jeff Nichols has assembled a star-studded cast. by deadline (opens in a new tab), his new movie The Bikeriders will star Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Tom Hardy. The film is believed to be an original story inspired by the book of the same name by Danny Lyon.
First published in 1968, The Bikeriders features photos and stories from members of the Chicago Outlaws Motorcycle Club. Lyon himself was part of the club and shares personal and raw anecdotes from its members.
Nicols’ adaptation will take inspiration from this and set his version in a fictional Midwestern town in the 1960s. Like the book, The Bikeriders movie will focus on members of a motorcycle club. It will take place over a decade as the club evolves from a community hub to something much darker.
There’s a lot of buzz around Butler right now after the best performance of his career in Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis. He is currently filming Dune 2 alongside Zendaya and Timothée Chalamet.
Eating has wowed audiences at the National Theater’s live performance of Prima Facie, which has become the company’s biggest release in theaters since the pandemic began. She is preparing to reprise the role on Broadway in 2023.
Hardy most recently starred in the final season of Peaky Blinders, as well as starring in Venom 2 when it was released in 2021. He will appear next in Havoc, Gareth Evans’ Netflix movie about a drug deal gone wrong.
