Bond producers want to cast the bad guy before a new 007

Apparently, there’s one more important casting that needs to be done before we finally find out who’s next. james link.

Bond film producer Barbara Broccoli revealed both to the hollywood reporter while accepting the 2022 Pioneer Award at the Will Rogers Motion Picture Pioneers Foundation.

Broccoli revealed that when producers come up with Link stories, start with the villain and work backwards.

“We always sit down with our writers and start out thinking, ‘What is the world afraid of? We started thinking “Who is the Bond villain?” We try to focus on that as the super kind of story, and then we also want to see Bond’s emotional life, and what he’s going to personally deal with that he hasn’t had to deal with before. So he has two big problems in the movies: one is geopolitical, and the other is personal.”

Broccoli also reiterated that the Link Casting, whoever it is, is a decade-long job and comes with a lot of baggage. For that reason, they want to make sure they get it right. The producers also try not to be affected by the rampant speculation about the actor.

“When we get to a point, like we are now, we have to think about the trajectory of the Bond movies and stories and where we want to take them. So that’s really the main focus at the beginning. Once we have an idea of where we want to go, we’ll start thinking about casting. We’re not just casting someone for a movie. We’re picking someone lucky for a decade, at least. It’s a big decision to make, and we’re not even close to making that decision.”

The item also had some other gems. For example, Broccoli said there has been a push to put Link on the small screen. “We have resisted that,” she said. “Many years ago, we did an animated thing for children, but we have resisted doing anything, because we really like to put all our efforts into theatrical performances.”

Finally, Link Movies are often tied to current world events, to some degree. Broccoli said she still wasn’t sure which direction that would take.

As soon as we know who the new Link is, we’ll let you know.
