The winners of the 2022 Spiel des Jahres board game awards have been announced, and Cascadia, a game about creating the best ecosystem, has taken the overall prize.
Created by Randy Flynn and produced by Flatout Games/AEG/Kosmos, Cascadia faced stiff competition from other popular games released over the past year (which you can check out in our guide to the Spiel des Jahres Board Game of the Year 2022 nominees). ). More precisely, it beat out Kei Kajino’s sequencing Scout and Aurélien Picolet’s Top Ten party-focused board game.
The winners of other categories were also announced. Magic Mountain by Jens-Peter Schliemann and Bernhard Weber took home the Kinderspiel des Jahres 2022 trophy (celebrating this year’s best board games for children), while Aske Christiansen’s Living Forest won the Kennerspiel award for board games from more complex hobby for adults.
