In an industry plagued by rampant sexism and unfair treatment of women, it’s a breath of fresh air to see male actors lift their female counterparts, and after two movies on the books alongside Anne of Arms and another on the way Chris Evans is singing all the praises for the talented actress.
The two first joined forces with a pair of breakout performances in Rian Johnson’s beloved murder mystery film, knives out. In the film, de Armas plays the protagonist Marta Cabrera, a nurse and close friend of the late mystery novelist Harlan Thrombey, who is put under a microscope when it is revealed that Harlan has left all his wealth and assets in her name. Evans, meanwhile, takes his turn as Ransom Drysdale, Harlan’s obnoxious grandson who ends up being Marta’s confidant.
Their next feature film together will be that of the Russo brothers the gray man, the upcoming action thriller and the most expensive movie Netflix has ever released. Dani Miranda, another CIA agent whose role in the film has been kept secret, will be played by De Armas.
There’s never been a shortage of excitement on a project when these two have been involved, and in a comment to Elle, Evans was all too happy to say the best about de Armas, and that he was a “fan first” when it came to his ability. acting.
I am a fan first. There are certain people in front of the camera that you can’t take your eyes off, and their range, from power to vulnerability, is incredibly wide. Every actor has strengths, but she can go from almost dangerous to outspoken to gentle and soft in a single scene.
The duo will appear together again in ghost, an upcoming action-adventure movie set to premiere on Apple TV Plus at an as yet undisclosed date. In the meantime, the gray man will be released on Netflix on July 22 after a limited theatrical release on July 15.
