Much has been made of Christian Bale’s debut as Gorr the God Butcher in the upcoming Thor: love and thunderbut at the film’s premiere, the actor got a chance to talk more about his time on set as the character.
Interviewers told Bale that his co-stars had said in the past that working with him was nice, however talking to him once he was done filming as Gorr was a scary idea. Bale responded by sharing that he understands why this would have been the case.
“It was kind of creepy, obviously I looked at Nosferatu as an influence and I loved the Aphex Twin “Come to Daddy” videos, that’s right. Now you can’t do that whole thing and still be a family movie, trust me, people would run for the exits, but trust me, we shot that, and then I gave Taika a lot of options.
But I don’t blame them, he [Gorr] He was a creepy guy to be with and then he had these fangs so he couldn’t talk to anyone so I just gave up.”
Delving into the logistics of playing Gorr, Bale explained that he needed quite a bit of makeup and prosthetics to get ready to shoot. He said that while this was applied he would go to his zen place.
“You have to go to a zen place, I have done it several times in my career. I didn’t realize I was going to do it in this one actually, but the special effects makeup artists are just as responsible for creating this character as I am, and I had a great time.”
The star also revealed that due to the amount of prosthetics we missed out on a Gorr dance scene, but joked that we may see him in a future movie.
Thor: love and thunder It will hit theaters on July 8.
