Cooperative Cooking Simulator Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! it’s free on pc

If you are new to this series, you can still participate

Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! is this week’s free PC game on the Epic Games Store. If you like the idea of a cooking simulator that you can play alone or with a partner, this is crazy: it’s set in a traveling food truck in the “radically changed war-torn America of 2042”.

After years of not fully entering the Cook, Serve, Delicious! series, I recently gave the second game another shot and had a much better time handling food orders with a co-op partner on the same couch. So much so that I also bought the third game on sale and now look forward to the next Vertigo Gaming title, cook serve forever.

Unlike Overcooked, this game is not about moving around the dangers of the setting, and you will have much more control over the types of food that you will serve on any given day. Instead of rushing, it will sit still and use a bunch of different control inputs to successfully prepare meals, little by little, as quickly as possible, exactly as customers specify.

It is overwhelming and stressful. But as you become more familiar with the controls, there’s a consistent logic and muscle memory to keep those commands flowing; you can prepare hamburgers or fry chicken with ease. At a certain point, I can stop thinking and just let my fingers do the work. It’s one of those games of trying to reach zen.

That said, as one Steam reviewer put it, “I thought this was a cooking game, not a stress management game.” There’s a reason I bounced off the series in the beginning.

Somehow I prefer its calmer, less crazy predecessor, but Cook, Serve, Delicious! 3?! absolutely can be your first CDS play. The day-to-day format has improved over time.

You will have until August 18 to claim the free game.

Rumbleverse is next on the Epic Games Store

Next week’s giveaway isn’t a full game, rather the Epic Store will give away the Boom Boxer content pack for Rumbleverse, a newly released fighting battle royale game from Iron Galaxy. It’s a free-to-play game, after all, so it makes sense that the offer would be a cosmetic bundle (and a 120-minute “fame booster”). It will be claimable from August 18 to 25, 2022.
