Daniel John’s album ‘FutureNever’ returns to number one on the Aria charts for the second time since its April release.
‘FutureNever’ is on a hot run, reaching the top of the Aria charts twice in one year, making it the fastest selling album by an Australian artist so far for 2022. Johns has also been nominated for Best Solo Artist at this year’s upcoming ARIA Awards.
Taking a different route from the traditional method of promoting the album release, Johns has been busy with an original podcast. ‘Who is Daniel Johns?’ (Spotify) and a special immersive art exhibit’Past, Present and Future Never’ in Melbourne, which has been extended due to popular demand until December 23, and to top it off, a ‘grunge sci-fi’ feature filmte ‘What if the future never happened?’ It will be out at the end of this year.
Johns has shared through a statement, “For FutureNever to hit #1 on the ARIA Albums Chart twice in 2022 and spend 6 weeks in the ARIA Top 10 is amazing. Thank you to the amazing people who worked with me on this album and a very special thank you to everyone who listened to FutureNever and helped spread the word. For an album with no singles or music videos, I’m really thankful that the music speaks for itself.”
John explained, “The FutureNever multiverse has given me a broad canvas to create immersive experiences that transcend a traditional launch campaign. I wanted to show artists that there was a better way to do it than a desperate search for a fleeting viral trend. I never set out to have a ‘chart hit’ with FutureNever, but I thought that if I did the opposite of what the traditional music industry said I should do, there might be something to it.”
‘Past, Present and Future Never’ currently on display in Melbourne, it explores the heyday of ’90s Australian grunge culture right up to the creation of their latest album ‘FutureNever‘, sharing a vault of personal memories and a variety of experiential exhibits from the future.
Along with guest contributors Adnate, Celeste Mountjoy and Claire Foxton. You can check the ‘Past, Present and Future Never’ exhibition in the elegant Rialto building in Melbourne during September and October.
