The new Critical Insight Triumph in Destiny 2 has confusing language when describing how to complete it. The text, “Get a critical roll when using Focused Decryption on the war table with the Umbral Echo upgrade,” does not explain what a “critical roll” is.

How to get the Critical Insight Triumph in Destiny 2 Season of the Risen
The first thing you need to do to get Critical Insight Triumph is to unlock the Echo Threshold war table update in HELM It’s second from the right in the table updates submenu, the large rectangular box in the middle of the main vendor screen.
The description for Umbral Echo reads: “Decoction of focused seasonal weapons has a small chance to refund Risen Umbral Energy.” Here’s the key: with Threshold Echo unlocked, you can crack any seasonal weapon via Risen Umbral Tools on the second page of the vendor menu or by focusing on a specific weapon at the bottom of the same page.
If you spend your Risen Threshold Energy but then immediately get it back, that’s the “critical roll” mentioned in Triumph. Provided you have received the refund, you should also get the Critical Insight Triumph.
To make the process faster, spend your resources on Risen Umbral Tools, as each use costs only one Risen Umbral Energy. While you can get armor from the engram, the chance of doing so and getting a weapon seems pretty even, meaning spending ten Risen Umbral Energy there is much more efficient than focusing on a specific weapon.
On-target weapons cost a whopping nine Risen Umbral Energy, and there’s no guarantee you’ll get the payback with the higher spend.
be aware of the only way to get Insight is to complete specific season challenges. If you haven’t unlocked Umbral Echo and done the easy ones from weeks 1-6, you’ll only have the PsiOps Legendary Battlegrounds left.
These more difficult activities are technically solo doable, but they are much less painful as a group. If you are a solo player and the description above sounds like you, you will need to hop on one of the many LFG options throughout the community unless you have the patience of a saint.
Provided you have completed all of the steps above, you should now be able to claim the Critical Insight Triumph.
