Andor It took a while to arrive, but it has absolutely proven that the wait has been worth it. The first three episodes of the new Star Wars The show premiered yesterday on Disney Plus and the reception from critics and fans alike has been extremely positive. It has a Rotten Tomatoes rating of 89% with an 80% viewership rating, with much praise for its cinematography, performances, and use of vast physical sets over virtual ones.
After the show had proven itself, star Diego Luna took to Twitter to thank the Andor team and underlines how proud he is of the program:
Yesterday we took the first steps of an adventure in which we will be at least until 2024. Andor it will ultimately consist of 24 episodes over two seasons, taking us to the place where we met Cassian just before his heroic sacrifice at Scarif in rogue one.
Some fans have questioned how involved we can be in a show where we know exactly how the hero will die, but first, that goes for just about every show. Star Wars property set before the Original Trilogy and second Andor is billed as a Rebel Alliance origin story as much as Andor’s journey.
However, ultimately, a gift awaits us if Andor maintains the quality of its first three episodes. The trailers indicate that we’ll meet Genevieve Reilly’s Mon Mothma next week, so we should start to see the early building blocks of the Rebels and how Andor will fit in with them.
Andor airs Wednesdays on Disney Plus.
