The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s journey into the multiverse doesn’t stop with the Disney+ movies or TV shows. At D23 Expo, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige announced that the story of the multiverse will continue to evolve within Disney theme parks as well, specifically, Avengers Campus at Disneyland Resort’s California Adventure.
The new ride was announced and concept art was shown. However, virtually no details were revealed. All we know is that it is coming one day and it looks like it will be a great addition to the park. Also, this is likely a replacement plan for the previously announced Avengers Quinjet ride for the park. Oh yeah, and Thanos is back, sort of.
The ride is an interesting addition to the shared universe, as Avengers Campus already exists in a weird little bubble of continuity of its own: Tony Stark is alive, the Guardians haven’t broken up, Black Widow is a normal-faced character with a show of stunts etc However, the new ride will be the first time the Avengers Campus story has actually intersected with the multiverse explicitly, and that could mean just about anything for both the ride itself and the future of Earth’s ongoing history.
With so few details, we can do nothing but wildly speculate on what this could all mean. What characters will be included? How will this connect the various Marvel universes? Is this a roller coaster? These are all the questions we have after the presentation of the journey of Marvel. So let’s take a look at what we know, what we need to know, and what this could all mean.
