Gambling School: Twin
Ready to dive back into the sulphurous world of gambling? While waiting for the announcement of a season 3 for Gambling School (Kakegurui), it is his spin-off Gambling School: Twin (Kakegurui Twin) which lands in anime on Netflix. Adapted from the manga scripted by Homura Kawamoto and illustrated by Kei Saiki, it takes place a year before the basic work. The story begins with the arrival of Mary Saotome, a brilliant student from the middle class, at Hyakkaou Private Academy. A school like no other: here, it doesn’t matter academic results or athletic prowess. The hierarchical system is based on gambling. Those who are in debt or who are bad payers find themselves at the bottom of the ladder and are treated like animals. The only privilege: that of being able to challenge anyone without being able to refuse, except the highest ranking, in order to have the opportunity to become a “normal” student again. An environment in which Mary Saotome will quickly adapt thanks to her cold blood and her ambition, discovering a sadistic personality and an addiction to games.
Like Gambling School, it’s the studio MAPPA (Yuri on Ice, Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan Final Season…) who is making the anime adaptation of this spin-off. In France, the manga is published by Éditions Soleil. 11 volumes have been published in France.
- Available from August 4 on netflix
After offering Castlevania, Dragon’s Dogma, Dota, Resident Evil, The Witcher and Cuphead series, Netflix is tackling Tekken. Already adapted into animated films and feature films, the series of fighting games is this time declined in the form of an animated series called Tekken Bloodline. The story focuses on the iconic Jin Kazama, a young martial artist who seeks to gain power to avenge the disappearance of his mother, Jun Kazama. His quest will lead him to participate in the King of Iron Fist Tournament, where he will meet well-known fighters from the saga like Nina Williams, Ling Xiaoyu, Hwoarang, Paul Phoenix, Julia Chang, King, Feng Wei or even Leroy Smith, who appeared in Tekken 7. The voice cast will be close to that of the games, with in particular Isshin Chiba (Jin), Masanori Shinohara (Kazuya Mishima) or Maaya Sakamoto (Ling Xiaoyu) for the Japanese voices. See you on August 18 to discover it all on Netflix. The number of episodes in the program is not yet known.

Tonikawa ~The Uniform~ (OVA)
Among the many romance anime on the market, Tonikawa: Over the Moon for You has stood out thanks to theme: marriage. The work introduces us to a rather special young couple. During a snowy night, Nasa Yuzaki is hit by a truck, distracted by the sight of a young girl for whom he has an immediate crush. Tsukasa Yuzaki, the girl in question, saves her life and Nasa then confesses her feelings to her. The young woman’s answer? “I agree to go out with you, but only if we get married”. A few years later, on his 18th birthday, Tsukasa comes to Yuzaki’s doorbell to make him keep his promise. The series therefore begins where most romance anime ends, at the beginning of the life of the bride and groom, whose daily life we are presented with. It is here a special episode (OVA) called “~ The uniform ~” which is offered to us while waiting for season 2. The anime is made by Seven Arcs studio (Blue Period, Arte, Magical Girl Lyrical Nanoha…)all adapting a manga written and illustrated by Kenjirō Hata.
