Jimmy Kimmel he’s not here to deal with bigoted billionaire shenanigans. The late-night host took over Twitter, fully asserting his right to free speech to call out BS on Elon MuskThe devil’s advocate facade.
On October 29, former first lady and diplomat Hillary Clinton took to Twitter to share a LATimes article that described the tragic and violent attack on the Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi’s husband, Paul Pelosi. The article shared by Clinton expands on the far-right affiliation of the shooter, David DePape, his anti-Semitism, and the far-right “bigotistic conspiracies” espoused by the violent persecutor. The former senator describes DePape’s violent actions as “shocking, but not surprising,” accusing the GOP of “regularly spreading hate and deranged conspiracy theories.”
As usual, the billionaire and recent Twitter acquirer decided to play devil’s advocate once again. Musk responded to Clinton’s tweet, sharing a disturbingly bizarre theory that depicted DePape as a stripper for the Castron, a group of radical gay male prostitutes, and Paul Pelosi as a closeted gay man who hired DePape as an escort. This ridiculous theory also argues that Pelosi was the one with a hammer, and was wrestling with DePape, who was in his underwear.
The tweet possibly accusing Pelosi of being responsible for her own assault did not sit well with the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host. The comedian and producer expressed his disappointment with the billionaire and criticized the far-fetched “Chief Twit” theory, saying it was interesting to watch Musk’s transformation “from an electric car to a fully formed piece of shit.”
This is not the first time that Musk has expressed his controversial views and his sympathies for the extreme right. In the immediate aftermath of Musk’s purchase of the social media platform, users feared that the engineer would reinstate some of the far-right accounts, which had previously been banned on the basis of their defense of “free speech,” with no repercussions on the inevitable impending hate speech. . However, only time will tell if Musk’s reign will continue to fuel extremist views and violent threats on the social media platform.
