Euphoria‘s Hunter Schafer has been chosen The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents of Lionsgate. The film is a prequel to The Hunger Games trilogy, starring Jennifer Lawrence as archer extraordinaire Katniss Everdeen, and will focus on the young Coriolanus Snow, played by Tom Blyth.
the report of Variety confirms that Schafer will play Coriolanus Snow’s cousin, Tigris Snow. She is his trusted confidante and, canonically, an old acquaintance of Cressida and Plutarch. She is a talented stylist who resides in the Capitol and her last name gives her a wealth of access beyond that of normal citizens.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Serpents takes place in the post-war Capitol, and will see Lucy Gray Baird (Rachel Zegler) from District 12 as Snow’s mentor for the 10th annual Hunger Games. She will show signs of her psychopathy in her youth, before she fully turns into the hopelessly terrible autocratic leader that Katniss and his team justly take down.
Schafer is best known for her role as Jules in Euphoria, a trans teen trying to find her way and Rue’s (Zendaya) love interest. The series gets a lot of flak for its mature themes, but co-star Sydney Sweeney said she felt safe filming the intimate scenes the story requires.
Schafer is currently in production at Cuckoo, and will star in the horror show Light Directed by Tilman Singer.
