every few months Final Fantasy XIV gets a drop of new content, but the upcoming 6.2 patch promises to bring something totally new to the game. In addition to the normal patch changes and additions, 6.2 also sees the long-awaited introduction of the Island Sanctuary, which has been teased for nearly half a year, since the release of the walker expansion. FFXIV continues to grow exponentially, and Square Enix makes sure players have plenty of content to read. There’s a lot to delve into, so here’s everything you need to know about FFXIV Patch 6.2: Buried Memory.
When is the FFXIV Patch 6.2 release window?
There is currently no release date for Patch 6.2, but it does have a release window of late August, likely the last week of the month. A Letter from Producer live stream is scheduled for Friday, August 12 at 7am ET, so it’s entirely possible the exact release date of the patch will be announced at that time.
What new missions are added in FFXIV Patch 6.2?
FFXIV Patch 6.2, titled “Buried Memory”, sees the continuation of multiple different quest lines introduced in the 6.0 series, including new main scenario quests. Here is the official description of the new MSQ from the special patch site.
“Five millennia ago, the great wyrm Azdaja disappeared into the void, and for many years Vrtra had given up hope of ever being reunited with his beloved sister. However, with the support of her people, he has found the resolve to search for her and part of her with the Warrior of Light into a world engulfed in Darkness…”
Of course, the new MSQ, as usual, means a new dungeon and a new test. While Square Enix hasn’t detailed the trial, the dungeon is called The Fell Court of Troia and focuses on the group trying to use the underwater rift to travel to the thirteenth shard.
In this patch, Tataru’s Grand Endeavor gets new quests, while Somehow Further Hildabrand Adventures will be updated in patch 6.25. In addition to this, the second part of the Pandemonium, Abyssos, and Abyssos (Wild) raid will be featured.
Patch 6.2 will also see the introduction of new dungeon types, called Criterion Dungeons and Variant Dungeons. Variant dungeons are so named due to their variable difficulty and the fact that they have no role restrictions or job swapping, in addition to branching progression based on player actions. Criterion Dungeons essentially build more on these for being high difficulty. The first variant dungeon is “The Sil’dihn Subterrane”, while the two Criterion Dungeons are “Another Sil’dihn Subterrane” and “Another Sil’dihn Subterrane (Savage)”.
What is the Sanctuary of the Island in FFXIV?
By far the most notable addition in this patch is Island Sanctuary, an all-new feature that allows players to kick back and take things slow. according to a Famitsu interview, each player will get their own instance island, and players will have the ability to invite friends to visit.
All content on the island is informal. combat free, and can be completed alone. Essentially, players can farm, explore the island, interact with his roaming minions, craft without needing an earth disciple or hand, and more. It definitely feels like Island Sanctuary is inspired by more laid-back experiences like Animal Crossing or stardew valleyand director Naoki Yoshida will likely provide more details during Live Letter on August 12.
What other changes are there? FFXIV Patch 6.2?
