Final Fantasy 14 has shown off more of its long-awaited Island Sanctuary feature in new screenshots.
Just today, on August 4, the official Final Fantasy 14 Twitter account posted two tweets, seen just below, showing off the upcoming feature. We get a glimpse of the coastal area of Sanctuary Island, which isn’t really a surprising feature given its name, as well as a rocky outcrop in the middle of a lovely lake area.

“Find sanctuary on an island paradise teeming with wildlife, where you can grow crops and let minions roam,” Final Fantasy 14 Official Website (opens in a new tab) reads a newly published section on Island Sanctuary. “What will you learn in the embrace of nature and what will you create from this new inspiration? Get ready to set sail, because your hideout awaits!”
Final Fantasy 14 fans have been waiting for Island Sanctuary since it was first announced last year. With hundreds, and potentially thousands, of hours racked up in the MMO, who wouldn’t want to escape to an island paradise all their own to let their collected minions roam free?
It sure looks like the MMO is doing an Animal Crossing impression, and we’re here for it. In a previous broadcast, producer Naoki Yoshida revealed that we will be building a base of operations on the island, customizing its appearance with resources we have collected from all over the island.
The Island Sanctuary will finally make its debut in Final Fantasy 14 patch 6.2 when it launches later this month to players around the world. In fact, we’re just over a week away from seeing more of the feature, with a new Letter from the Producer live stream from Yoshida and company on Friday, August 12.
In the meantime, Megashiba remains a sensationally popular mount among Final Fantasy 14 players.
