Game News Gamescom 2022: the terrifying The Callisto Protocol by Glen Schofield (Dead Space) highlighted?
Announced at The Game Awards 2020, The Callisto Protocol is the studio’s debut game Striking Distance, but the members of the studio are far from rookies. At their head, a certain Glen Schofield, creator of Dead Space, and it shows!
The Callisto Protocol: the return of horror à la Dead Space
The Callisto Protocol is a survival horror game set in a space prison in Callisto, a very inhospitable moon of Jupiter also referred to as Jupiter IV. Discovered in the 17th century, the satellite will therefore be part of a game originally planned to be part of the universe PUBG: Battlegrounds. But over the months, the project asserted itself, and the developers announced that it existed on its own and that this idea of a shared universe was no longer valid. Players will take on the role of Jacob Lee, who in the year 2320 will seek to escape Callisto by any means possible.
But the latter will not be alone since dizaines of biophages, necrotic enemies strongly reminiscent of necromorphs of Dead Space, will roam the corridors and tunnels. But unlike Isaac Clarke, Jacob is experienced in the use of weapons and will not hesitate to use this skill to dismember his enemies and use his strength to trample and strike them. Powers similar to telekinesis will be present, life-related information will be present intradiegetically (element directly present in the narrative), bringing Dead Space back to life through a spiritual sequel.
