Hoyoverse has lifted the veil on Genshin Impact’s Cyno with a character trailer and a flood of new information, and the new electric character is deepening the game’s connection to Fire Emblem.
Cyno’s English voice actor is Alejandro Saab, a prolific voice actor who you might recognize as Yuri, leader of the Ashen Wolves from the Fire Emblem: Three Houses DLC. That makes him the second lord of the Three Houses to appear in Genshin, after Chris Hackney, who voices both Dimitri and Kamisato. That just means we’re one Tara Platt and one Joe Zieja away from having every lord of the Three Houses represented in Genshin Impact.
Trivia aside, you can hear Saab as Cyno in the trailer below, which shows the new character chasing down a group of academics in a vast desert.
While that trailer may make Cyno look cool and put together, her official info page (opens in a new tab) it shows that you have other interests, such as “dull jokes.” He even has a joke on his rumor page: “Hmm… a joke? Oh, I have just one. Ahem… Once upon a time there was a traveler, stranded in the desert and dying of thirst, who desperately prayed for a Hydro Slime to cross his path. But the traveler didn’t realize that at that very moment, a hungry Hydro Slime was praying to meet a lonely, stranded traveler… What, isn’t that funny? Tsk, I think it’s hysterical”.
In practical terms, Cyno is all about dealing continuous damage, with precise inputs providing additional bonuses. His elemental blast puts him in a state where you can time his elemental ability uses to further increase that ability’s damage and fire additional attacks.
