God of War Ragnarok has gone gold, cementing the game’s rapidly approaching November release date.
Sony Santa Monica announced the encouraging news on Twitter, thanking its fans for their support. “On behalf of SMS and all of our partners, thank you fans for supporting us over the course of development,” he said. “We’re about to launch and we can’t wait for you to play on November 9th!”
For the uninitiated, “going gold” is a phrase used by studios to indicate that a game is fully finished and ready to ship. This generally rules out the possibility of delays, barring something catastrophic.

The news prompted swift reactions from PlayStation studio and Uncharted maker Naughty Dog, who congratulated (opens in a new tab) the “incredible study” for the milestone. PlayStation itself, however, decided to congratulate Sony Santa Monica with a surprisingly bad Friday pun. “Excellent way to start Freya’s day” wrote (opens in a new tab)totally shameless. “Congratulations!”
Now that the game has gone gold and is ready for store shelves, complete with a recent ESRB rating causing plenty of dismemberment and profanity, this is where you can secure your God of War Ragnarok pre-order. It’s also not too late to reserve that beautiful limited edition God of War Ragnarok DualSense controller, but stock is running out fast. In fact, it’s already sold out in most stores, but you can still find it on PlayStation Direct.
God of War Ragnarok launches on November 9 for PS5 and PS4.
