News hardware He plays Mario Kart in real life by replacing the steering wheel of his car with that of the Wii
TikTok is an inexhaustible source of experiences, each more improbable than the next, and this new video published by one of the platform’s users proves it once again.
If you experienced the era in the mid-2000s, chances are you played Mario Kart Wii. This version of the famous Nintendo franchise notably allowed to use a steering wheel, in which was inserted a wiimote, to take control of the virtual vehicle. Road trips and other uncontrolled skids were never far away, but the advantage of a game is that you risk nothing. This is not the case when driving a real car.
Replacing a real steering wheel with that of the Wii is possible
Tyler Atkin is a car-loving influencer, which highlights its multiple DIYs within the TikTok platform. With nearly two million subscribers, he does not hesitate to stage himself in experiences often crazier than each other to satisfy his community.
In one of his most recent videos, Tyler Atkin decided to replace the steering wheel of his car, a Mazda Miata,
with the one offered with Mario Kart Wii. To do this, he had to make some modifications to the accessory, namely making a few holes for the fixings.
A delirium that greatly amused his community, who then challenged him to drive with this installation. The influencer has complied and in particular filmed picking up an order at a fast food restaurant while driving his modified car. If driving is possible, we still notice that turning such a small steering wheel does not seem obvious.
#Wiiata madness on TikTok
What was supposed to be, at the base, only a simple funny video ended up going much further in the delirium on the account of Tyler Atkin. The latter then decided to drive longer with his car equipped with this steering wheel.but also replaced his gear lever with a Nunchuck, to end up install a full wiiscreen included, in his vehicle.

A fun experience, but still involves risks. We also notice that TikTok displays a prevention message on the videos in which the influencer circulates with his steering wheel which is anything but regulatory: “By participating in this activity, you risk injuring yourself or others”. An incentive not to reproduce the experience at home.
