amber heard is being questioned for the public appearances he made after alleged abuse by his ex Johnny Depp occurred in the midst of a dueling defamation lawsuit trial.
Depp is suing Heard for $50 million for defamation over allegedly false accusations of domestic abuse she made against him that he says hurt his career. Heard countersued Depp, also for defamation, for $100 million.
The highly publicized trial was broadcast live on the Law & Crime Network YouTube channel and other outlets, from a courtroom in Fairfax, Virginia, from mid-April.
Depp’s attorney, Camille Vasquez, conducted a fairly relentless cross-examination on Monday, including questions like:
“Mr. Depp is your victim, isn’t he?
When Heard responded, “No ma’am,” Vasquez continued:
“And once he left you, you continued to abuse him, publicly, calling him an abuser, right?”
Heard once again refuted the accusation, saying: “He is an abuser. And he can look up any of us online and find out who is being abused online.”
After that, Vasquez delved into a line of questions about Depp’s rings. Heard said his general experience with Depp was that he always wore “big, thick rings” on each of his fingers.
“I almost always knew he wore rings,” Heard said, regarding an incident of alleged abuse by Depp in March 2013.
Vasquez then submitted a couple of photos of Heard appearing publicly with Depp in promotion of The Lone Ranger In Russia. Heard confirmed that the photos had been taken after Depp allegedly punched him in the face while he was wearing rings, although the footage does not show Heard having any visible signs of injury.
Another photo from the Russian press event for The Lone Ranger also showed no immediately noticeable injury to Heard (below).
Heard confirmed that another photo submitted by Vasquez was taken the night after Depp allegedly hit her so hard she broke her nose, but again, there are no visible signs of injury in the image.
Heard claimed that he used ice to make the swelling go down.
Vasquez submitted another photo allegedly taken the day after Heard alleged that Depp knelt on her back. Heard confirmed under cross-examination that he could not see any markings on the photo.
Vasquez scrutinized another public appearance, in which Heard appeared in The Late Late Show with James Corden on December 16, 2015, the day after Heard alleged that Depp abused her to the point of having a split lip. Heard claimed that she had a split lip on the show, despite photos of her appearance showing no visible signs of injury.
Vasquez even played a clip from the talk show segment, in which Heard promoted her appearance on the danish girl. According to Heard’s testimony, the alleged split lip was apparently covered in red lipstick. The clip in question, from Heard’s appearance on the show, is available online, via the late showofficial YouTube channel.
Vasquez also confirmed that Heard took a couple more photos after the alleged incident on Dec. 15, 2015 (below).

Heard also confirmed that he did not receive any medical treatment for Depp’s alleged sexual assault with a liquor bottle while they were in Australia, or various other injuries he alleges he sustained.
Although Heard has maintained that Depp abused her, Depp claimed the opposite: she abused him and not the other way around.
“You didn’t think she would tell the world that she was a victim of domestic violence, did you?” Vasquez asked Heard.
“It was hard for me to believe that he could or would do that, considering the relationship that he and I had. I thought it would be crazy for him to do it,” Heard said.
Earlier testimony from Heard indicated that Depp had allegedly slapped and hit her on multiple occasions and sexually assaulted her twice. She also claimed that she covered her injuries with makeup.
In the ear-written 2018 Washington Post article at the center of Depp’s lawsuit, describes herself as a “public figure representing domestic abuse”. Although Depp is not mentioned in the article, Heard made previous allegations of abuse against Depp in 2016, which she claims she is referenced in the article.
Heard also has several other witnesses lined up to testify, including her sister Whitney Henriquez, actress Ellen Barkin and Depp himself. This will be the second time Depp has taken the stand after he previously testified on his behalf and was questioned by Heard’s team last month.
