Unsurprisingly, the Steam Summer Sale 2022 edition offers plenty of discounts on a wide range of different games. It also involves a few different promotional events. There is a puzzle (involving someone named Clorthax) that grants players a badge for a limited time. And, as in years past, there’s a summer sale-themed badge, called the Steam 3000 Badge.
To get the new badge, you need to craft it from trading cards, just like you do other badges. This particular badge requires completing a set of 10 trading cards themed around the Clorthax mentioned above. However, since these cards aren’t associated with any particular game, you can’t earn them just by spending time playing. Instead, you earn them by participating in the summer sale in a variety of ways.

How to Get 3000 Steam Trading Cards
- Scan full queues: This is the easiest option to earn Trading Cards. All you need to do is go to your Store page and scroll down until you see the prompt to start another Discovery queue, as shown above. Then simply scroll through all the games in the queue to receive a free trading card. However, you can only do this once a day and it resets at 12pm ET.
- Buy games: You can also earn Trading Cards by purchasing games during the sale. You will receive one Card for every $10 spent.
- Redeem for cards: You can trade Cards in the Trade Forum or directly with anyone on your friends list. It’s also easy to check if any friends have cards missing from your pool by selecting the Steam 3000 badge on your badges page.
- Buy Cards in the market: If you prefer not to worry about the process of getting cards or trading them, or if you just want to fill a hole or two in your collection, you can always buy trading cards in the Community Market. This is usually not too expensive, with most Cards selling somewhere in the $0.06-0.08 range, although Limited Time Cards are likely to be more expensive.
