When it comes to a story that began in 1987, the Metal Gear franchise jumped back and forth in time throughout the many games that came out. Because of this, many players who wanted to start playing and want to do so in chronological order would likely be intimidated by the size of the franchise. Luckily, we’ve made a list for you of all the games that make up Metal Gear, the year the events occur in them, and the platform you can get them on to try them out.
The Metal Gear games in chronological order
The history of the Metal Gear saga spans over 50 years and sees the characters grow old, have children, raise children of their own, and then die. So of course most of us would need a list to keep up with this long series.
It’s good to know that we don’t recommend playing the games in this order as it might mess up various plots of the other games. However, this could be a fun experience if you check them out a second time. On the other hand, we recommend playing the Metal Gear games in the order they came out.
