In Ark: Survival Evolved, the Kaprosuchus is known for causing the most scares in the game. This little crocodile creature has the jumping ability of an Olympic athlete and loves to use it to ruin your day. Coupled with its ability to infect you with Swamp Fever, coming across this creature is usually a bad time for anyone. Despite this creature’s ability to regularly cause heart attacks, as well as ruin a new player’s day, they prove to be somewhat useful. This is because they are fast swimmers and small targets for larger creatures to try to hit. This guide will detail how to tame the Kaprosuchus in Ark: Survival Evolved.
What Kaprosuchus does in Ark: Survival Evolved
The Kaprosuchus is a nasty creature lurking in swamp biomes. It’s also semi-aquatic, so even if you don’t see it, it can probably see you from underwater. It may be smaller than its cousin Sarchosuchus, but it’s much more terrifying simply because of its jumping attack. While not very useful for resource gathering, the Kaprosuchus will deliver a good amount of raw meat and fur gathering.

They will run around like a scary dog and somehow always attack you so be careful. The key to taming this guy is to keep him in his place and avoid being caught in the jaws and bitten down. If you are immobilized, you can hit him until you die or he passes out. Alternatively, you will need the following items:
- 1 net projectile and a net gun. You cannot ball this creature.
- 1 Crossbow, Long Neck Rifle, or Tek Bow. Remember that the higher your weapon’s damage percentage, the fewer shots you’ll need to knock out a creature.
- Tranquilizer Arrows, Tranquilizer Darts, Shocking Tranquilizer Darts, or Element Fragments depending on your weapon.
- Normal croquette. based on 1x taming ratesit will take exactly 9 regular croquettesto tame a level 150 Kaprosuchus. You can also use a blood elixir for a one-time 30% increase in taming meter. You can also feed raw lamb or raw prime beef if you don’t have kibble.
