Three weeks after a shooting interrupted production, Justified: Primal City has been hit with more unwarranted violence, this time in the form of an “incendiary device”.
On Monday night, an unknown assailant turned on the device and threw it onto the set of the upcoming FX show, which was in the 1000 block of South Desplaines Street in Chicago’s South Loop area. Fortunately, he did not detonate and no one was injured. Detectives are investigating the incident.
Last month, the crew and cast, presumably including Timothy Olyphant, ducked for cover when two cars carrying people involved in a shooting crashed onto the set. No one was hurt but, as FX president John Landgraf put it, “it was quite a traumatic experience for the cast and crew to be around those kinds of shots.” Bullet casings were found nearby.
“A lot was done to take a break and make sure everyone was okay,” Landgraf continued, “and [increased] security.” Among the new additions, according to Term, was a hostage negotiator with a team of former Navy SEALs and Army Rangers. They were trained to quell future threats.
While that may have seemed excessive at the time, the most recent incident confirmed that the shooting was not an anomaly. Either person is taking aim at the spin-off of the acclaimed FX show Justified or the show is being filmed in the wrong place at the wrong time.
Justified: Primal City it’s expected to release in 2023, barring more shootings, bombs, and whatever else Chicago throws at it.
