Inti Creates’ new project is an impressive mix of Castlevania and Mega Man

Developer and publisher Inti Creates, known for his work on games like Mega Man Zero, Azure Striker Gunvolt, and the Castlevania-inspired by Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, has announced that it is working on a new 2D action platformer that looks like a handsome mix of all three.

Grim Guardians: Demon Purge takes Mega Man’s fast-paced shooting mechanics and combines it with the melee combat seen in classic Castlevania titles. It stars two demon hunters, Shinobu and Maya, who must infiltrate a dangerous castle that now stands on the site of their old school. You’ll be able to switch between the two characters on the fly to utilize their unique abilities, or you can team up with a friend for two-player co-op play.

Here’s an official breakdown of the game from Inti Creates:

Grim Guardians centers on two demon hunters who return to their school after a quest only to find a demon castle where it once stood. Players control the two demon hunting sisters in this 2D side scrolling action game. Players must master each of the sisters’ unique abilities and attributes to overcome challenging stages with bosses awaiting their arrival. They will also be able to find new routes through each stage using the abilities of the 2 characters, keeping the game fresh.

Other features include 2-player co-op with special actions, extensive difficulty options with the “Style System”, unique changes to replay matches, and most importantly, the quality and challenge players have come to expect from arcade titles. Inti Creates, this time with a new gothic horror aesthetic.

Even though the game is playable for attendees of the indie game show ‘BitSummit X-Roads’ in Kyoto this weekend, it looks like Grim Guardians is in early development, so the release date is likely yet to come. be away. However, if this initial glimpse is anything to go by, it looks like the game could become another hit for Inti Creates!
