Crikey, there’s just no stopping Splatoon 3, right? For a game that made many question the validity of its very existence, its success in Japan (and around the world, for that matter!) has proven that the franchise is undoubtedly as popular as ever. Selling 301,845 copies last week, the sequel is fast approaching 3 million total sales in Japan, which is frankly insane considering it’s only been out for a few weeks.
On the other hand, Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival makes its debut at number two with 31,085 copies sold. It’s certainly a modest number compared to Splatoon 3, but it’s still an impressive start for the new entry regardless (be sure to check out our review while you’re at it!). Diofield Chronicle also enters the top ten at number eight, having sold a total of 6,415 copies.
Here is the overall top ten for the week of September 19-25, 2022:

There is little change on the hardware front this week, and the Switch continues to comfortably dominate. Having said that, the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S are currently outperforming the Switch Lite thanks to growing stock supply and various promotions; Honestly, it’s pretty cool to see Xbox having more success in a region where it’s consistently struggled to gain traction.
