John Boyega has praise for Obi Wan Kenobi and its stars, Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen. the Star Wars The sequel trilogy actor played Finn, the First Order stormtrooper turned hero, and has kept abreast of what’s going on in the universe.
At the premiere of Jordan Peele’s UFO horror movie NOBoyega spoke with TheWrap and gave his thoughts on Obi Wan Kenobi.
“I think it was fun, it was good to see Ewan [McGregor]. It was good to see, you know, our boy Anakin, well, my boy Anakin, MY boy, back. For him to have more nuance and more history as well, it was just, for me, just phenomenal to watch.”
The Disney Plus series Obi Wan Kenobi saw the reunion of McGregor and Christensen, who hadn’t been on screen together since 2005 Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith. The series took place years after those climactic events where Obi-Wan goes on the run due to Order 66’s revenge against Jedis and Anakin in the early stages of his Darth Vader identity.
Christensen’s performance has been praised after a general negative response to the Star Wars prequels The actor played a younger Anakin before turning to the Dark Side and the Sith Lord Darth Vader, who stops at nothing to exact revenge on his former Master.
Boyega had a challenging time as part of the Star Wars universe due to racist trolls and a story that sidelined his character after the force awakens, but it is clear that he bears no hard feelings towards the franchise. With so many characters getting their own Disney Plus series, it’s not impossible to imagine Finn getting the same treatment on a series of his own.
The next film that Boyega will star in is the historical epic the king woman with Viola Davis. In it, he plays King Ghezo, who must protect the Kingdom of Dahomey using the powerful warriors, the Agoji. the king woman hits theaters September 16.
