Irish actor Brendan Gleeson (Alastor Moody in the Harry Potter films) has been cast in Joker 2 in an undisclosed role, according to Deadline. Production on Joker: Folie à Deux is expected to begin this December with the film hitting theaters on August 4, 2024.
Warner Bros. has not commented on the new casting decision. Deadline also recently reported that Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2, Atlanta) would be returning to reprise her role as Arthur Fleck/Joker’s neighbor Sophie. At the beginning of August, it was finally confirmed that Lady Gaga would also participate in the film; Rumor has it that she will play Harley Quinn alongside Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.
Phoenix will earn $20 million to reprise his role as the Clown Prince of Crime. And although we already have a title and release date, the plot of the film remains a mystery. The film is rumored to be a musical.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Joker writer-director Todd Phillips may soon begin serving as an adviser on future DC projects for Warner Bros.
