League of Legends Worlds Song Featuring Lil Nas X Has Totally Divided Fans

League of Legends Worlds songs have become a major part of the annual hype machine for MOBA’s biggest event, and this year is no different. Star Walkin’ is an upbeat pop tune created by social media superstar and talent juggernaut Lil Nas X, but it’s definitely divided League fans, with many claiming it just isn’t. enough hype.

Lil Nas X’s first decree when he became president of League of Legends was that his new song Star Walkin’ would play every time something happened in the office; does your phone ring? Walk of the stars. Send a document to the printer? Walk of the stars. Do you want to sanitize your hands? walking star!

It’s actually quite fitting that office workers are subjected to the pop tune constantly, as anyone willing to watch Worlds will be faced with the same prospect whether they like it or not.

This is the first time Riot has released a Worlds song that they didn’t produce internally. Even when bands like Imagine Dragons lend their talents to League of Legends, it’s under the watchful eye of the game’s developer. The Lil Nas X release, however, seems to have existed before the League connection was made, and that’s where some fans’ disappointment begins.

The comments below the official music video for Star Walkin’ are mixed, with many people enjoying the song, but perhaps not the robot-themed video: “I mean, I like the song but it literally did nothing to cheer me up.” “. another user adds: “I think part of it is that it didn’t really seem to match the video. To the point where I wonder if the video was for a song that was scrapped at the 11th hour and they put this one instead.”

This next comment in particular echoes my own sentiment: “The song is catchy, the video is great, but somehow together they don’t work very well.” Both are great on their own and deserve inclusion, but they don’t seem to fit together like 2018’s RISE did, for example. A music video that matched the lyrics: It featured a warrior’s ascent to the top of his craft (and a mountain), defeating all opponents in his path.

Perhaps Star Walkin’ lacks the dynamism we’re used to when it comes to League of Legends cutscenes. Either way, the mechanics are great and the song itself is catchy (especially if you play it at 1.25 speed). The Worlds build was recently released, and you can see all the changes here with the League of Legends 12.18 patch notes. There are also some potential changes in the works; for example, did you know that Blitzcrank could soon terrorize the top lane? If you didn’t, you do now, and I’m sorry in advance.
