League of Legends welcomes its new champion, Nilah the Joy Unbound, to the MOBA game’s public beta environment today. Nilah is an ascetic warrior, a skirmisher from a distant land, and is bound to a powerful demon of joy. Nilah’s abilities focus on this demon and the joyous energy it radiates onto the battlefield from it.
Nilah’s passive is called endless joy, and effectively improves the amount of experience Nilah and her allies gain when Nilah last hits a minion. Half of the XP that would normally be lost from sharing last hit XP with nearby allies is returned to Nilah and the closest allied champion. Nilah also gains bonus buffs from allied heals and shares that buff with nearby allies of hers.
His Q is called shapeless leaf, and gives Nilah a bit more range with her passive attack with her water-based whip-sword. On the active side, he attacks in a long cone-shaped area of effect directly in front of her. Hitting an enemy briefly increases her range and attack speed.
Nilah’s W is called jubilant veil. This is a cloud of mist that envelops Nilah and grants increased movement speed, reduced incoming magic damage, and auto dodge on all incoming basic attacks. Additionally, Nilah can touch an ally while using this ability and grant them the same bonuses, albeit for half the duration.
His E ability is wake, and this allows Nilah to dash through a target unit, damaging all enemies in her path. She can hold up to two Slipstream charges at a time. It also combines with the Formless Blade, allowing Nilah to draw a wave her way. This deals damage and also triggers Nilah’s empowered attacks.
Finally, Nilah’s R is called Apotheosis, and this causes Nilah to spin her watery sword around her. Enemies hit by the attack are pulled towards her for a final burst, and a portion of the damage dealt will heal Nilah, with excess healing being converted into an energy shield. Both healing and shield scaling on critical strike change, and are shared with nearby allies.
Again, Nilah is now available on the League of Legends PBE, and is designed as a bot lane skirmisher. It looks like he will be a lively addition to the League roster.
