‘Lord of the Rings’ star hopes ‘Rings of Power’ cast pay no attention to pressure

British actor dominic monaghan has some words of wisdom for the cast of the rings of power.

the Lord of the Rings star talked to ScreenRant at San Diego Comic-Con and said he was impressed by the magnitude of the marketing campaign for the upcoming prequel.

It’s a bit quirky. We were lucky enough to be invited to dinner last night by the wonderful folks at Audible and TreeFort, and we went to Nobu, which is an amazing Japanese restaurant. And right in front of Nobu was a huge 100 foot Rings of Power thing. I sat watching these characters for the rest of the night, and I was like, ‘That’s kind of weird.’ It’s strange to see it.”

Monaghan seems to find the scale of the show’s promotional campaign unbelievable and absurd. With a staggering budget of a billion dollars, the rings of power is the most expensive TV show ever made. According to Forbes, Amazon Studios bought the exclusive television adaptation and production rights to JRR Tolkien’s estate for a staggering $250 million.

Amid all the hoopla, Monaghan found himself relating to the pressure the actors might be experiencing. Having played Meriadoc Brandybuck in the Lord of the Rings trilogy, is very familiar with the experience. He urged his fellow actors to ignore the obvious stressors and allow themselves to have as much fun as possible.

“I wish you good luck. I hope everything goes well, and especially for the actors, because I lean towards the actors. I hope you guys are having fun. I hope they don’t feel the pressure of anticipation or what happened with the Peter Jackson trilogy. I hope they just think, ‘This is a great job, I’ve made some great friends, I hope it continues,’ and take it on, because these kinds of jobs, the jobs that end up being the best jobs I’ve ever done, can be gone in a heartbeat. and close your eyes. You can say, ‘Oh, I’m going to do this for years,’ and then all of a sudden three years go by and you’re like, ‘What, where did that go?’ And it’s done. I hope you enjoy it, I hope you’re having a good time, I hope it’s a great success.”

This is not the first time Monaghan has encouraged the rings of power actors to support each other on the journey and enjoy the journey and it’s wonderful to see the actors supporting each other, especially when the stakes are high.
