Calling all Kayce Dutton fans, Luke Grimes shares what the future holds for everyone’s favorite. yellow stone cowboy, and it’s an emotional ride.

Grimes spoke to EW ahead of the exciting fifth season and said that the next few episodes will have plenty of room for Kayce to try to find her balance. Before getting into the rocky road that awaits Kayce, Grimes gave fans a glimpse of what the season will be like. Or rather, he said as much as he could without revealing anything at all.

“Each season has felt incredibly different. I think that’s the beauty of Taylor’s writing. He knows how to make this show take every twist possible and keep it so fresh. Each year has felt very different from the previous one.”

Get back to that balance you’re trying to find. Kayce is playing a metaphorical game of tug of war within himself this season; Jump into happily ever after or follow the trail of family devotion? Is there a way that the two can coexist?

“When you meet him [in season 5], is outside the ranch. He is almost happy. It seems that she likes the little life of hers in the res with the family. But as the story progresses, you realize that he can’t stay away for long. Something calls him to take care of that legacy.”

The legacy you speak of is that of the Dutton family. Kayce has been on the line between a different life with his wife and staying true to his father for as long as we’ve known him. In fact, during the first season, we were sure that Kayce hated his father.

There has also been something else between the two: respect, and as the seasons have progressed, we have seen the relationship between Kayce and John Dutton grow. She loves her father and knows how important it is to help keep her legacy alive.

Part of that fight could influence Kayce’s vision in season four. As fans know, she was on a spiritual journey in the last few episodes of yellow stone which revealed anguish.

“In true Kayce fashion, there’s no relief from the kind of rock and hard place he finds himself in.”

Relief and Kayce are certainly not synonymous with each other, and for a reveal as heartbreaking as that, it’s one where she works with tried-and-true power. Kayce doesn’t realize how strong she is, but we have a feeling she will come with the new episodes.

yellow stoneThe exciting new season of ‘s kicks off on November 13 with a two-hour television event. Fasten seat belts; It’s going to be a wild ride.
