We are now a decade away the Avengers, and half of the original team has moved on. Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans said goodbye in avengers endgameand Scarlet Johansson followed them to the door in black widow.
However, some are still happily making their way through the MCU, with Jeremy Renner impressing in Hawk Eye, Chris Hemsworth makes history with his fourth solo film Thor: love and thunderwhile Mark Ruffalo is about to celebrate his tenth anniversary as Helmet in She-Hulk: Lawyer.
Ruffalo clearly likes playing the character, with she-hulk star Tatiana Maslany revealing to ScreenRant that she’s still acting like it’s her first time.
“I feel like the thing that surprised me the most, but it didn’t either, just because I know he’s such an amazing actor, was how much he comes onto the set with this ‘Everything is new’ feeling. He always seems to be exploring it and experiencing it for the first time.”
Maslany also says he never feels like Ruffalo is resting on his laurels.
“There’s never this feeling of, ‘Yeah, yeah. I’ve been doing this for 10 years and I’m calling it out.” He is absolutely present. He is always stretching that character, and he is always listening. And he really creates this feeling on set with other actors, and with the crew and everyone, of total play and spontaneity. And you know we’re both in motion capture suits. And yet, we felt like we were like two children playing.”
It’s been 14 years since The incredible HulkBut there may be some positive news on the horizon for the not-so-joyful green giant. Until recently, the rights to a solo Hulk project were tied to Universal, which first refused to distribute any film featuring the gamma-irradiated colossus as a main character.
As such, Disney and Marvel Studios chose to tell the MCU story of the Hulk in team-up movies and as a supporting character for other heroes, which has left die-hard Banner Stanners dismayed that it doesn’t get the focus it deserves.
It’s possible that that rights deal could expire soon, and in theory Marvel Studios would gain full control of the long-time favorite, so here’s hoping they eventually do. world war hulk adaptation we’ve all longed for, possibly as a way to round out Ruffalo’s excellent MCU journey.
She-Hulk: Lawyer premieres Thursday, August 18 on Disney Plus.
