Microsoft CEO weighs in on Xbox/PlayStation drama, Modern Warfare 2 PC specs dropped, and upcoming Splinter Cell game updated. All in GameSpot News today.

Speaking to Bloomberg, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella is confident that regulators will approve the company’s proposed $68.7 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

The executive went on to point out that Microsoft is not the biggest player in gaming; he estimated that Microsoft is the number 4 or 5 player in the space, with Sony in first place. “So if it’s about competition, let’s have competition,” Nadella said.

While this statement is true, the acquisition of Activision would probably make Microsoft the largest publisher of games, and furthermore, Microsoft as a whole is a much larger company than Sony, with a market capitalization twenty times larger.

Nadella’s comments came after the UK Competition and Markets Authority launched a more extensive investigation into the purchase. The CMA said it is “concerned” that Microsoft’s proposal to buy Activision Blizzard could “substantially lessen competition” for sales of game consoles, subscription services and cloud gaming networks.

But forget PlayStation and Xbox. PC gaming is the only way to fly. You are above petty corporate disputes. All you care about are the specs for Modern Warfare 2 for PC, which was released today, along with the open beta version of the game on the platform… If you pre-ordered it!

The minimum specs for the beta call for 8GB of RAM, an Intel Core i5-3570 or AMD Ryzen 5 1600X CPU, along with an Nvidia GeForce GTX 960 or AMD Radeon RX 470 card. Meanwhile, the recommended specs call for 16GB of memory. RAM, an Intel Core i7-4770K or AMD Ryzen 7 1800X CPU, and an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 or AMD Radeon RX 580 card.

So if you’ve built or bought a PC in the last 8 years, you should be free.
