The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 beta setup on PS5 reportedly contains an option that refers to a third-person mode. The setting reportedly contains a separate FOV slider for the third-person mode, suggesting that the game could have third-person game modes.
As reported by charlieintelligence, the Modern Warfare 2 beta includes a setting option for “Third Person Field of View” that appears below the normal FOV slider option. It’s also been reported that there are mentions of a Call of Duty launcher in the PS5 beta, though it’s unclear exactly what this is referring to.
While none of the recent Call of Duty games have included the option to play third-person, the original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009 had multiple third-person playlists as part of its multiplayer options. These screenshots come from players who downloaded the Modern Warfare 2 beta before its actual release on September 16, so it’s unknown if this option will appear in the final version of the beta’s settings menu. The beta will also be available on Xbox and PC on September 22, in what will be the first opportunity to see if the settings option appears on other platforms.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28 for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC. Activision will share more information about the game during its Call of Duty Next live stream on September 15.
