Andor doesn’t like to allude too much to Skywalker Saga or other past Star Wars projects, but the inclusion of Mon Mothma as a symbol of the Rebel Alliance definitely represents a lifeline for familiar territory.
Of course, the Mon Mothma we see on the Disney Plus show, played by Genevieve O’Reilly, isn’t the selfless leader we love from the original. Star Wars trilogy. Whatever happens to her over the course of these 24 episodes, which comprise the two Andor seasons, the character will grow exponentially.
Appearing on ThePlaylist podcast for the Star Wars prequel show, O’Reilly mocked the conclusion of Mothma’s arc with ominous words, noting that the character will have to face darker truths and get closer to her breaking point to overcome her current state.
“What we can definitely see her do this season is risk it all and how close she is to breaking it. The choices you have to make are not easy and they are not attractive. They are painful, and they are a bit ugly. It’s a darker, grayer world that Mon Mothma has to inhabit, and I think it will be better for her.”
Despite its humble marketing campaign, Andor is becoming an absolute pleasure with fans, many of whom consider the latest episode to be among the best to come out of Star WarsIt was from Disney Plus. Since that praise includes the mandalorian Also, Tony Gilroy is certainly raising the bar in terms of what we can expect from narratives from galaxies far, far away.
As for O’Reilly’s Mon Mothma, the show will no doubt refocus on her sometime in the second half of this season, and we can’t wait to see more of her untold story on the small screens.
