Movie exec explains why ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ marketing has been a disaster

It’s no secret that do not worry honey has captured the attention of the media around the world, but will that translate into gold at the box office? The answer is maybe. There’s been a lot of drama surrounding everything but the movie itself, and now executives are talking about how all that attention has affected the film’s chances of success.

the people of Vulture did a deep dive into the film and the aftermath of the excitement at the Venice Film Festival, and boy is it anything. An unnamed executive who spoke to the magazine said the film’s opening weekend performance metrics have been “schizophrenic”, with another executive calling them “all over the place”.

The film went from the expected $16 million at the box office for the weekend (at the end of August) to $20 million after Venice, and then dropped back to $16 million. Estimates now put it at around $20 million for the weekend, with some as high as $27 million. Here’s what one executive had to say about the whole thing:

“’I’ve never seen tracking go up and down so much,’ said this latest executive. “They went up three points of interest, they lost five points of interest… They have young girls excited for Harry Styles, and that’s it. His campaign keeps changing: ‘It’s a thriller!’ No just kidding. ‘It’s a romantic drama!’ ‘It is this. Is that!’ Kim Kardashian liked it on Instagram. The audience says: What the hell is going on?’”

Another issue is that Warner Bros. is reportedly unhappy with the way Wilde is handling the film’s promotion, with the main issue being the comments he made about Shia LaBeouf and his departure from the film.

One executive said that Wilde was “either a mad genius who figured out a way to make people more aware of the movie in a way that just boosts the box office, or she has no self-awareness that she’s f*cking.” his movie.

There’s also the issue of NRG scores, which predict how a movie will perform and calculate interest in the movie into a score. The film’s “definite interest” score dropped five points from 40 to 35, which is not good. However, there is still a chance that the movie will be okay and actually make enough money to make everyone happy.

movies like Titanic (big budget and injuries on set), apocalypse now (main actors changed), and World War Z (complete third act rewrite) ended well despite its problems. Looks like we’ll just have to wait and see how this all plays out. We will keep you informed as things develop.
