MultiVersus S1 Patch Notes Out, New Character Revealed Today

Tough times for some Warner Bros. icons

Today sees the arrival of the first official season of content for the scrapper from Warner Bros Games MultiVersus — Ahead of the official start of the season later today, developer Player First Games has released new patch notes detailing the title’s first major rebalance since entering open beta three weeks ago.

As expected, and to no one’s surprise, overly domineering characters like Adventure time‘s Finn, The Iron Giant, and Warner Bros’ main man Bugs Bunny have all felt a heavy hit from the nerf deck, mostly in the form of longer cooldowns and/or slower starts in these character specials. The troublesome Taz continues to review his Tornado moves, with the developer noting that he will be paying special attention to the troublemaker’s behavior in the future.

This simple but great video from Monkey D. Lenny sums up my feelings towards this news.

On the other end of the spectrum, Arya Stark has been reworked to make her combos a bit less complicated and to make the character easier to play in an overall sense. Wonder Woman, who has struggled since her release, has received some cooldown reductions, as well as a faster start to her special projectile shield. These new balance changes have been made in preparation for a complete overhaul of the damage/hit boxes across the roster. This core element of the game’s mechanics is currently under scrutiny at the studio, with a full redesign expected at some point in the near future.

In addition to the patch notes, game director Tony Huynh has noted that a new character will be revealed later today. Who could it be? While you wait for the new superstar to make her presence known, you can check out the MultiVersus patch notes on the official website.

MultiVersus The open beta is now available on PlayStation, PC and Xbox platforms.
