Mumbaikars woke up on a foggy Sunday when a dust storm originating in Baluchistan resulted in poor visibility. Intermittent dust-raising winds further increased the haze and also lowered temperatures. The Santacruz observatory recorded a maximum temperature of 23.8 degrees Celsius, Mumbai’s lowest daytime temperature in January in the last 10 years. Indian Meteorological Department officials said the dust storm originated in Baluchistan and then moved east to Saurashtra before reaching Mumbai and parts of northern Konkan.
