Like more rumors based on Marvel Studios’ Fantastic four continue to spread, people have speculated that the renowned and Oscar-winning director Steven Spielberg will take the reins of the next Marvel movie.
But despite all that speculation, it has been confirmed that Spielberg will not be involved in the MCU reboot.
The rumors began when a former Vulture journalist, Mike Sampson, reported on Twitter that Spielberg was approached by Marvel to direct the film. However, it hasn’t made much headway because, according to Sampson, Spielberg has “no interest” in producing a Marvel movie.
Fans were excited at the idea of Spielberg directing an MCU movie, considering he’s worked on other classic titles, like Indiana Jones, ready player oneY Jurassic Park.
But despite all the speculation and enthusiasm for the idea, the rumor was later debunked by VarietyAdam Vary’s senior editor. The lead editor confirmed that the rumors were false and that Spielberg will not be working on the Marvel project. As of now, both Disney and Marvel Studios have yet to announce who will direct the film.
In 2020, Marvel Studio executive producer Kevin Feige announced an MCU reboot of Fantastic four. The last Fantastic four The film was released in 2015 by 20th Century Fox and did poorly at the box office. The film earned more than $25 million during its domestic release and ranked 6 percent on Rotten Tomatoes. Due to the poor performance of the film, a sequel was cancelled.
As of now, no information about the cast and crew has been made public. However, multiple leaks and rumors spread on social media about possible cast members of this superhero team.
The MCU reboot of Fantastic four it is scheduled to come out in 2024.
