Overwatch 2 DPS Heroes is getting a speed boost at launch

Ahead of Overwatch 2’s release next month, Blizzard has released a preview of the changes players can expect. One of the big tweaks, compared to previous betas, is a new passive ability for each hero class, with DPS RPG characters getting a speed boost.

In beta builds, DPS heroes retained 30% of their max power when swapped for another character, and this buff will apply to tank and support heroes as well. To give DPS characters a more clearly defined role, Blizzard explained in a blog post that these heroes will benefit from a passive move and increased reload speed after eliminating an opponent.

“We’re introducing a new passive for DPS that increases your movement speed and reload speed by 25% for a short period after getting a kill,” Blizzard explained. “We feel this change is the right balance to reward players who perform well in the Damage role without being overpowered. However, in future seasons, we may continue to experiment with what these passives do as we look to shake up the meta on a regular basis. “

Blizzard also detailed changes being made to some roster members, including Orisa’s base health and armor being slightly reduced, the impact damage rate of D.Va’s buffs being more than doubled, the Baptiste’s Biotic Launcher primary fire damage is reduced slightly. mild buff, and Bastion’s Ironclad passive is re-enabled. Blizzard added that Overwatch 2 will have a 9-week seasonal cadence that will introduce new maps, heroes, game modes, and more for players to experience.

Overwatch 2 enters early access on October 4, 2022 for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Switch. This will consist solely of the game’s PvP mode, with the PvE mode coming in 2023. Starting October 2, the original Overwatch game’s servers will be shut down and become Overwatch 2, Blizzard confirmed.
