Actor patrick stewart has been a fixture in popular culture with its twists on star trek and the X Men franchise and, like anyone in something big, he’s gotten his share of fan mail and now he’s revealing the most heartwarming letter he’s received thus far.
“I received a letter that meant a lot to me. It was from an LAPD sergeant, and his letter began by writing about how much he had always wanted to be a police officer, how much he loved the job, he was so proud to be an LAPD sergeant, but there were days, he said, when I go home and what I have seen, experienced and witnessed in the world has been so disheartening, shocking and depressing. When that happens, I go home and put on an episode of star trek and I start to believe in people again.”
Stewart makes the above comments in an article published by Term Hollywood today about his recent appearance at the Cannes Lions conference. The report also says that Stewart returned to his role as Jean-Luc Picard in the recent streaming series after being pointed out by writer-executive producer Alex Kurtzman that both men had changed over the years.
“That got my attention. [The script] It was brilliant, so I went back in.”
Star Trek: Picard has a third and final season that will premiere next year. Plus, this isn’t the first time Stewart has shared an emotional moment with a traumatized fan. A few years ago, he publicly hugged a domestic violence victim at a fan convention.
