The stop animation series for adults starring MOD OKone of Marvel Comics’ notorious villains, has been officially canceled by Hulu after just one season. Variety reports.
Though Hulu has yet to confirm the reason for the show’s cancellation, this isn’t the first time Hulu’s Marvel shows have been abruptly canceled. Shows like the live-action “New Warriors” and the animated series Howard the Duck and Tigra & Dazzler had also been cancelled before its scheduled broadcast.
MODOK, along with the aforementioned shows, was one of four animated shows set on Hulu and produced by Jeph Loeb. The plan was for them to eventually cross paths in an event known as “the criminals,though their cancellations have likely scrapped those plans.

Although the news may surprise some, it is something that was hinted at in January. During his presentation at the 2022 Television Critics Association, Hulu’s chief content officer, Craig Erwich saying that the platform had no announcements to make regarding MODOK renewals and that “Marvel and the team will make the decisions for that franchise and that brand.”
MODOK was one of Marvel’s last non-MCU shows, and likely fell victim to Marvel’s ultimate goal of winding they scaled back their television output, as it was reported that Marvel Television no longer had plans to develop any new series beyond the shows currently in production.
Golden News reviewed the first season of “MODOK” and hosted a viewing party for the first two episodes of the series with the show’s co-creators Jordan Blum and Patton Oswald. Siddhant Adlakha of Golden News called the show’s first season a “refreshing mile-a-minute comedic self-parody”.
